How it works

LinkedIn strips markdown, so you can't bold or italicize a post the normal way. The workaround: swap ASCII letters for Unicode mathematical alphanumerics that render with the styling baked into the glyph itself.

Type plain text, pick a style, copy. Six variants: bold, italic, bold italic, script, bold script, and combining-underline.

When to use it

  • Highlighting a headline or callout in a LinkedIn post.
  • Adding emphasis in a profile bio where markup is off the table.
  • Anywhere plain text is the only option and you still want hierarchy.

Use sparingly. Screen readers spell out mathematical characters letter by letter. It's an accessibility tradeoff, not a free upgrade.
